The Line of 20 is the Bortolato Analogical Method’s proposal for learning numbers and basic arithmetic in the easiest and most natural way. It is a valuable resource for teaching maths in Year 1 of international primary schools, or for use with foreign pupils who have language difficulties.
This is an intuitive and easy-to-use material, suitable for children, parents and teachers alike. The book outlines a step-by-step daily learning path and includes numerous exercises with additions, subtractions and word problems, allowing the child to experiment and learn independently.
The tool offers an effective alternative to coloured rods, which often require lengthy explanations. It allows pupils to carry out operations within 20 from the very beginning, using addition and subtraction as everyday actions: adding and taking away. Pupils recognise the buttons as a visual representation of their own fingers, making the learning process feel natural.
The accompanying adult’s guide explains the principles of the Bortolato Analogical Method and provides practical instructions for each activity.
