Over recent decades, Italian and European schools have made significant progress in aligning with national and supranational guidelines on school leadership, with the aim of consolidating shared and transformative educational practices within multilingual and multicultural contexts. Leading Learning addresses educational leadership from a European and intercultural perspective, offering reflective tools and practical models for school leaders, teachers and researchers.
This book stems from the Erasmus+ project “Leading Learning” at the School for Europe in Parma, a professional development programme involving headteachers and teachers from several European Union countries. The initiative was designed to develop inclusive, sustainable and intercultural leadership competences.
Drawing on a research pathway based on narrative and thematic analysis, the volume documents participants’ experiences and proposes a model of distributed leadership that values the contribution of all members of the school community. Central themes include a holistic understanding of leadership, teacher agency, and mobility as a driver of intercultural growth.
The book concludes by proposing an educational model grounded in cooperation, continuous improvement and coaching as key tools for strengthening a culture of professional development and shared learning.
